2007 Salem, Illinois Open
The Salem (Illinois) Open Checker Tournament will be held November 10, 2007, at the Denny's Restaurant in Salem, IL. The location is 1/4 mile west of the Interstate 57 and Highway US 50 interchange, on the right hand side of US 50 as you travel west. If you come from the west on US 50, then Denny's is on the left hand side, just prior to the Interstate 57 interchange. (1812 W. Main St. Salem, Illinois 62881)
Registration will begin at 7:30 AM and play will begin at 8:00 AM. Players will compete in two classes (possibly three classes according to how many newer players attend). The tournament will consist of five rounds, two games per round. Three move restricted rules will apply. Each round will be limited to 90 minutes. Scoring will be two points for a win, one point for a draw and 3 points for a bye. Cash awards paid to the higher finishers.
The room that Denny's is furnishing us is separated from the main restaurant, so there should be no distractions. Parking is available in the front and the rear. Denny's is attached to the Salem Inn Motel and the phone number for the motel is 618-548-4212. There is also two other motels nearby, the Super 8, phone no. 618-548-5822 and the Comfort Inn, phone no. 618-548-2177.
